How can we create circular ecosystems that reduce the Materials’s consumption and convert waste into resources?
Climathon is a global movement dedicated to solving climate challenges of cities across the world through open innovation. The second edition of Climathon Sevilla will be held in November 19 to 21 2021, in face-to-face format.
Sitting in the Guadalquivir river valley, Sevilla has thrived for millennia thanks to its privileged natural environment. However, heatwaves, droughts, floods and sea level rise caused by climate change threaten the city and its surroundings.
The eCitySevilla project will create the city of the future, decarbonizing the Cartuja Island in 2025, 25 years earlier than required by the Paris agreements.
For this, the project is based on 4 lines of action: energy, sustainable mobility, building and digitization.
Climathon’s challenge consists of integrating the circular economy in eCitySevilla: applying techniques such as ecodesign, servitization or recovery of waste to create circular ecosystems that allow reducing the consumption of materials and energy and converting waste into resources.
It is vitally important to contextualise the event within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Agenda 2030 proposed by the United Nations;
SDG 13: Affordable, scalable solutions are now available to enable countries to leapfrog to cleaner, more resilient economies. The pace of change is quickening as more people are turning to renewable energy and a range of other measures that will reduce emissions and increase adaptation efforts.
Are you bursting with ideas? Do you feel you have a voice in tackling climate change impacts in your city and community? If you’re open to meeting new people, building friendships, collaborating, and creating ideas that could tackle climate change in your community, Climathon is for you.
The event is open to the participation of companies, institutions, associations, students, innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs and also technicians and professionals.
